Karen Salmon, K.C., B.A., LL.B., is a Partner with the Calgary office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. She practises commercial litigation, with much of her experience in oil and gas litigation representing energy clients on litigation matters including contractual disputes, property and title disputes, and on regulatory matters involving both oil and gas and electricity clients. Ms. Salmon also has significant experience in banking litigation and class actions. Ms. Salmon was admitted to the Alberta Bar after clerking with the Alberta Court of Appeal and is also a member of the Northwest Territories Bar and the Nunavut Bar. Ms. Salmon has appeared before the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as numerous regulatory tribunals and boards in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. She is recognized in national rankings such as The Best Lawyers in Canada; The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory; and Benchmark Canada.

Ira Nishisato, B.A., LL.B., D.I.L. (Cantab), is a Partner with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Toronto. He was educated at Upper Canada College; Trinity College, University of Toronto; the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto; and Queens’ College at the University of Cambridge, England. Mr. Nishisato’s practice focuses principally on complex commercial litigation; commercial fraud; investigations; cybersecurity and information technology litigation; injunctions and extraordinary interlocutory remedies; and international disputes. Mr. Nishisato has appeared before all levels of courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and is a regular speaker at national and international legal conferences. He is recognized in national and international ranking publications such as The Best Lawyers in Canada; Benchmark Canada – The Definitive Guide to Canada’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys; Who’s Who Legal; and Legal 500 Canada. He is the vice-president and director of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (The Cambridge Lectures) and has served as Co-Chair of the Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association.
