Students of the law are familiar with the adage that rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and recognized in U.S. Supreme Court decisions are a "floor, not a ceiling," and the Constitution and courts of New York guarantee rights to criminal suspects and defendants in addition to those guaranteed under the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments. This newest edition of New York Suppression Manual: Arrest, Search and Seizure, Confession and Identification, first published in 1991, is an essential treatise that explains the unique aspects of New York law and is designed to meet the needs of criminal law practitioners, law enforcement professionals, and anyone else who interacts with the court system. It covers New York's law on search and seizure, arrests, confessions, and identification procedures. It also includes comprehensive analysis of relevant federal and state statutes and case law, as well as a wealth of useful checklists and sample forms. Inside you'll find expert, indispensable coverage of:
• Arrest
• Search and seizure
• Search warrants
• Stop and frisk
• Interrogation and confessions
• Lineups and pretrial identification
• Motions to suppress and the suppression hearing
