Erica Johnson Rose is a native of Morgan City, LA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from Southern University in Baton Rouge in 1997. She then obtained a Masters of Library Information Science from Louisiana State University in 1999.After teaching and being a public school librarian for a number of years, Erica Rose entered law school, and in 2006, she received her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU. She served as law clerk for the retired Honorable Judge Lori A. Landry of the 16th Judicial District Court from 2006-2007. She then went on to open her own law practice and was an Assistant Attorney with the Public Defenders Office of the 16th Judicial District.

For twelve (12) years, Erica Rose served as Assistant District Attorney in the 16th Judicial District of Louisiana where she served as a criminal prosecutor gain trial experience from misdemeanors to Second Degree Murder while specializing in Sex Crimes and felony DWIs/ Vehicular Homicides prosecution. Also, she taught Legal Aspects to law enforcement officers during POST academy training for local law enforcement agencies. She also served as City Prosecutor for the City of Franklin and City of Patterson. Along with her current position as Visiting Professor at SULC, Mrs. Rose maintains her private law practice in New Iberia, LA where she resides, and she is contracted as a felony criminal defense attorney with the 16th Judicial Public Defenders Office. Erica Rose currently serves on the Louisiana State Disciplinary Board at the recommendation of Chief Justice John Weimer and appointment of Retired Chief Justice Bernadette Johnson. Mrs. Rose is active in her community. She is a 2019 Leadership St. Mary Parish graduate and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc Since Spring 2021, Erica Johnson Rose has taught the following courses at SULC: Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and Professional Responsibility.
