Prof. Dr. Ainul Jaria Maidin holds a PhD in Environmental and Land Planning Law (University of Wales), as well as an LLM and LLB from IIUM. Prior to joining IIUM as a lecturer, she gained valuable experience in the legal practice areas of civil litigation, Syari'ah, corporate conveyancing and Islamic Banking loan documentation. She has also contributed to professional bodies such as the National Landscape Institute (ILAM), the Town Planners Association, and as a member of the Board of Advisors of the Institute for Land and Survey (INSTUN) and the Kuala Lumpur Redevelopment Policy Drafting Committee, 2011. She conducts regular classes and guest lectures in the areas of Land Law, Environmental Law, Property Law and other similar subjects. She has published three books and more than 50 articles in areas related to land tenure, land administration, sustainable development, urban planning, and environmental planning law.
Prof. Sharifah Zubaidah holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) IIUM, a Master of Comparative Laws (IIUM), a Doctor of Legal Science (SJD, Bond University), and is a non-practising Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. She has served in the Civil Law Department, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) as an academic staff since 1994. She teaches Land Law and Property Law and is also currently the Associate Editor for INSAF Journal of the Malaysian Bar, Coordinator of the Property Law Research Unit (PLRU) at the Law faculty and is a Member of the Climate Change Policy and Law Centre at IIUM. She was Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs) Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (2008-2010) and Director, International Centre for Waqf Research (ICWR-IIUM) (2014-2017). Prof. Sharifah has trained participants on Land and Property Law in programmes organized by UNHABITAT and various government agencies (ILKAP, PLANMalaysia, AG’s Chambers), PETRONAS and the Malaysian Bar. She has authored 22 journal articles and 16 chapters in books and co-authored/ edited 5 books, namely Land Use Planning and Environmental Sustainability (IIUM Press, 2006), Principles of Land Law (Lexis Nexis, 2008), Student Guide on Equity and Equitable Remedies (LexisNexis, 2016), Waqf in Selected Asian Countries (PNMB, 2019) and most recently, Malaysian Land Law and Procedure (Thomson Reuters, Sweet & Maxwell, 2022).
Prof. To’ Puan Dr. Nor Asiah Mohamad Nor Asiah Mohamad
Prof. To’ Puan Dr. Nor Asiah Mohamad holds a PhD in Land Law and Equity (IIUM). She holds LLB Hons (IIUM) and LLB in Shariah (IIUM) degrees, as well as a Master of Comparative Laws (IIUM). Her area of specialization is Land Law, Strata Law, Islamic endowment (Waqf), Islamic Property Law and Housing Law. She has deep interest in the harmonization of laws. She also teaches Sustainability and Parenting and Family Management courses at undergraduate level. She has published articles, contributed chapters in books on Commercial Law, land law, Waqf, Islamic Finance and Harmonisation law, and published books on Waqf, Land, Equity and Equitable Remedies. She has also taken lead in various research and consultancy work related to water, land, strata, waqf, residential tenancies, short term tenancy and housing. She holds various administrative posts as Principal, Director of Student Development, Head of the Civil Law Department, Deputy Dean for Post Graduate Studies and as a member of the Land Tenure and Environmental Unit and of the Property Law Unit, and forms a part of the Main Committee of International Waqf Action (i-Waqf).
Dr. Azlinor Sufian started her career as an academician in 1993 at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She was attached with the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) of IIUM until 2018, where she opted for an early retirement to join the University in Oman. Later she joined the Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia, before joining the Prince Sultan University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (PSU) in 2020. Her areas of specialization are Property, Housing, Construction and Consumer Protection Law. She has published articles in local and international journals as well as chapters in books. Currently, she is an Associate Professor at the College of Law, PSU.
Dr Fauziah Mohd Noor holds an LLB (Hons) (UM), LLM (SOAS), and PhD (Birmingham). She is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Islamic Business School, College of Business in University Utara Malaysia. From 1993-2013, she was an Assistant Professor at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. Her areas of interest are Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), Islamic Banking, Islamic Family Law, and Islamic Land Law. Formerly, she was a member of the Shariah Committee of Bank Simpanan Nasional Malaysia for 10 years (2008-2018). Dr Fauziah was also involved in numerous training sessions conducted by the United Nations and UN Women in Malaysia.
