'The period between the years 2008 to 2013 saw significant developments take place within the legal spectrum of the country. This publication aims to provide the casual reader with useful commentary on those legal developments, by way of compiling the notable Malayan Law Journal articles that were written by selected contributors, legal practitioners and academicians alike.
The selected articles within this publication are divided into eleven subject areas, of which were chosen based on the criteria of public interest, currency, gravitas and thematic effect of recently enacted legislations on present civil and criminal laws. Notable contributors include Justice Dr Hj Hamid Sultan bin Abu Backer, Dato' KC Vohrah, Mr. Tommy Thomas, Mr. T Vijayandran, Datuk Sundra Rajoo and Ms. Mariette Peters, to name but a few.
At a closer observation, the articles selected here revolve around judicial decisions as well as legislative changes that were made between 2008 to 2013, of which encompassed such general areas of law ranging from Criminal Law to Constitutional Law, as well as towards areas which dealt with specialized laws ranging from the Law of Tort on Medical Malpractice to Revenue Law. The wide variety of subject areas covered within this publication also strives to provide the reader with an in-depth analysis and discussion on recently enacted legislations such as the Competition Act 2010, Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 and Personal Data Protection Act 2009.
