Les dispositions du Code du travail, et plus particulièrement les articles 47.2 à 47.6, portent sur la qualité des services et les obligations de bonne conduite que tout syndicat accrédité doit, à ce titre, rendre aux salariés. On peut considérer qu’une importante partie des travailleurs québécois ont choisi d’agir en association avec d’autres travailleurs ou de maintenir de telles associations pour améliorer leurs conditions de travail.
Les obligations de bonne conduite énoncées aux articles 47.2 et suivants du Code sont applicables à l’endroit de tous les salariés visés dans une unité de négociation, et ce, même s’ils ne sont pas membres du syndicat. Ces obligations visent toutes les décisions et actes du syndicat qui peuvent toucher ou affecter un ou plusieurs salariés de l’unité de négociation.
