Halsbury's Laws of Canada – Legal Profession (2021 Reissue)

Jakub Adamski, B.A., B.C.L., LL.B., LL.M., is Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, McGill University. A lawyer who articled with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP after completing his legal education at McGill University and Columbia Law School, he continues to provide advice on diverse commercial and corporate questions. In an ongoing attempt to learn the common law and corporate law, he has taught over the years, Judicial Institutions and Legal Procedure, Legal Ethics and Professionalism, Contracts, Business Associations and Corporate Law History at the Faculty of Law, McGill University, and Contracts, Sale of Goods and Remedies in the common law program at the Université de Montréal. In 2020 McGill students bestowed upon him the John W. Durnford Teaching Excellence Award. He principally wrote (with Angela Swan) the volume on Contracts in Halsbury’s Laws of Canada, and was a
co-editor of the legal profession entry in Halsbury’s Laws of Canada. He and Angela Swan have written several case comments and given presentations at academic conferences.

Raj Anand, B.A., LL.B., is a partner with WeirFoulds LLP, where he acts as counsel, adjudicator, mediator or investigator. His practice includes administrative, human rights, constitutional and employment law, civil litigation, and professional negligence. He is the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Law Commission of Ontario. He is a former Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and founding Chair of the Ontario Human Rights Legal Support Centre. He has also served on several administrative tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal, and has been a member of the Hearing and Appeal Divisions of the Law Society Tribunal since 2007. As an elected Bencher of the Law Society from 2007 to 2019, he chaired the Working Group on Challenges faced by Racialized Licensees and led the reform of the Law Society adjudication process. Mr. Anand’s experience as an adjunct law professor over the last 20 years includes “The New Administrative Law”, “Legal Ethics: Legal Values”, and “Diversity and the Legal Profession”. His publications include a provincial task force report on trespass law, over 100 continuing legal education articles, a civil society report on the political and legal situation in Zimbabwe, and chapters on professional liability, judicial review and human rights. In 1997, he was the first recipient of the Advocates’ Society Award of Justice. Since then, Mr. Anand has received several other awards, including the Law Society Medal, Professional Man of the Year from the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, and awards for lifetime achievement from the South Asian Bar Association, the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the Ontario Bar Association. In 2017, he was named one of Canada’s 25 Most Influential Lawyers.
