Jennifer E. Babe, B.A., LL.B., LL.M., a partner at Miller Thomson LLP, practises commercial law with a focus on secured transactions, the securing of sales and leases of significant products and the purchases of businesses, assets and shares. Ms. Babe serves on Ontario’s Business Law Advisory Council, is the past Chair of the Business Section of the Canadian Bar Association, recognized in the 2008 to 2019 issues of LEXPERT/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada and a Regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.

Terence D. Hall, B.A. (Hon.), LL.B., is a partner in the financial services group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP in Toronto, where his law practice emphasizes regulatory and transactional matters involving financial service providers and other businesses. He frequently advises clients on the Canadian regulation of financial services, including credit, debit and payment card programs, cost of credit disclosure, payments system issues, anti-money laundering requirements and other compliance matters.

Terry is often retained to assist financial institutions and business clients with consumer credit transactions, commercial lending, outsourcing arrangements and corporate governance. He has advised government and financial services industry clients on the development of legislation, transactions requiring regulatory approval and product development. He has acted as a special advisor in the financial institutions division of the Department of Finance Canada and a senior advisor in the Ontario Ministry of Finance. He is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers. He is a frequent participant in conferences on the regulation of Canadian financial institutions and has written many papers and commentaries on the subject.

L. E. Trent Horne is an associate judge of the Federal Court. Prior to his appointment, he appeared as lead counsel in a wide range of intellectual property matters at the tribunal, trial, and appellate level, and was certified as a specialist in all areas of intellectual property by the Law Society of Ontario in 2009. Associate Judge Horne has also been a frequent speaker on intellectual property and advocacy issues. He has been recognized by a number of directories, including Chambers Global, the Canadian Legal Lexpert directory, IAM Patent 1000, and World Trademark Review 1000. He has an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Dr. Alison R. Manzer, B.Sc., LL.B., LL.M., M.B.A., M.Sc., D.B.A., is a partner in the Banking & Specialty Finance and Business Law Groups at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP. She has an extensive commercial law practice, with a large cross-border and international practice base, including financial institution regulation, securitization, structured finance, project finance, commercial lending, corporate finance and private placement, banking, insolvency and restructuring, asset finance and related areas. Dr. Manzer has held several financial services industry directorships and many positions with legal organizations, including the American Bar Association, where she chairs committees, and the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys (Past President). She is a regent of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and a  Fellow of the American Bar Association. Alison is an adjunct professor in the LL.M. program of Osgoode Hall Law School and has authored several books on financial services and commercial law topics. She is ranked in most legal peer rankings in Canada, the United States and globally in Banking and in Asset Finance.

Suhuyini Abudulai, B.A. (Hon.), LL.B., is a partner in the Banking and Specialty Finance Group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP. Her practice focuses on transactional and regulatory matters in financial services, with particular expertise in Canadian consumer protection laws. She regularly advises clients on the regulation of financial services in Canada, including documentation, licensing and disclosure requirements. On the transactional side, Suhuyini advises clients on commercial lending transactions, acting for lenders and borrowers in a variety of domestic and multijurisdictional transactions. Suhuyini has authored several publications, including the Annotated Ontario Consumer Protection Act. Among other professional experience, Suhuyini holds positions with the American Bar Association. She is a recipient of the Precedent Setter Award, a recipient of the Lexpert Rising Star Award, named a Change Agent by Canadian Business and is ranked in Chambers Canada, IFLR1000 Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. Suhuyini received her B.A. from Dalhousie University and her LL.B. from the University of Windsor.

David Bish, B.Comm., M.B.A., LL.B., is a partner at Torys LLP, with a diverse restructuring and advisory practice.
