The Honourable Todd L. Archibald, BA, LLB, LLM, CMed, CArb, FCIArb, was a Superior Court Justice from 1999 to 2021. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and was the Co-Director of Osgoode’s part-time Civil LL.M. program. He is also the co-author of the annual Ontario Superior Court Practice (LexisNexis Canada) and the co-author of Regulatory and Corporate Liability: From Due Diligence to Risk Management (Canada Law Book, updated annually) and Discovery in Canadian Common Law: Practice, Techniques and Strategies (LexisNexis Canada, 2017). He is Editor of the national Advocates’ Quarterly (Thomson Reuters) and was the founding editor of The Annual Review of Civil Litigation (2000-2022). He was a former Litigation Partner with Borden & Elliot. He graduated in law from the University of Toronto in 1977 and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1979. He obtained a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1985. He has been a member of the Ontario Civil Rules Committee since 2013 until his retirement in May 2021. He received the Ontario Attorney General’s 2015 David Mundell medal for legal scholarship. Mr Archibald has been the president of Archibald Mediation and Arbitration Solutions Inc. since May 1, 2021.

The Honourable Justice Stephen E. Firestone, B.A., LL.B., was called to the bar in 1988 and was appointed to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in 2013. Prior to his appointment, he practiced civil litigation with an emphasis on personal injury, accident benefits and professional negligence. Justice Firestone is currently the Regional Senior Judge for the Toronto Region. He is the past Civil Team Lead-Toronto Region and past Chair of the Toronto Region Civil Bench and Bar Committee. He is a past director of the Advocates Society and past president of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association. He is a general editor of Ontario Courtroom Procedure, Fifth Edition, author of Halsbury’s Laws of Canada – Motor Vehicles (2015 Reissue), (2019 Reissue) and (2023 Reissue), editor of Ontario Motor Vehicle Insurance Law & Commentary, and co-author of Ontario Superior Court Practice: Annotated Rules & Legislation, all published by LexisNexis Canada Inc.

The Honourable Justice P. Tamara Sugunasiri was appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Justice on June 29, 2021. Prior to that, she was a Master of the Superior Court of Justice. Before her time on the bench, she was a senior litigator at the Department of Justice, practising in the areas of tort, administrative law and commercial litigation. Justice Sugunasiri graduated from Windsor Law in 1998, having completed a Master’s degree in Philosophy in 1995 with a focus on access to justice. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2000. Justice Sugunasiri has taught paralegal courses in civil litigation and legal writing and research for Humber College, and she continues to be faculty for various courses and CPD programs, including Osgoode Hall’s part-time Civil LL.M. course. Recently Justice Sugunasiri founded and funds an Access to Justice Award at Windsor Law to recognize a first-year student who demonstrates exceptional dedication to improving access to justice in Ontario.
