John J. Borrows, B.A., M.A., J.D., LL.M. (Toronto), Ph.D. (Osgoode Hall Law School), LL.D. (Hons., Dalhousie, York, SFU, Queen’s & Law Society of Ontario), D.H.L, (Toronto), F.R.S.C., O.C., is the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Law at the University of Victoria Law School in British Columbia, and Loveland Chair in Indigenous Law at the University of Toronto Law School. His publications include Recovering Canada; The Resurgence of Indigenous Law (Donald Smiley Award best book in Canadian Political Science, 2002), Canada's Indigenous Constitution (Canadian Law and Society Best Book Award 2011), Drawing Out Law: A Spirit's Guide (2010), Freedom and Indigenous Constitutionalism (Donald Smiley Award best book in Canadian Political Science, 2016), The Right Relationship (with Michael Coyle, ed.), Resurgence and Reconciliation (with Michael Asch, Jim Tully, eds.), Law’s Indigenous Ethics (2020 Best subsequent Book Award from Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, 2020 W. Wes Pue Best book award from the Canadian Law and Society Association). He is the 2017 Killam Prize winner in Social Sciences and the 2019 Molson Prize Winner from the Canada Council for the Arts, the 2020 Governor General’s Innovation Award, and the 2021 Canadian Bar Association President’s Award winner. He was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2020. John is a member of the Chippewa of the Nawash First Nation in Ontario, Canada.

Leonard I. Rotman, B.A. (Toronto – With Distinction), LL.B. (Queen’s), LL.M. (Osgoode Hall), S.J.D. (Toronto), is Professor of Law and Business at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University, which he joined in August, 2020. He was previously Purdy Crawford Chair in Business Law at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, where he taught from 2012-2020. He joined Dalhousie from the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor, which he joined as Assistant Professor in 1998, became Associate Professor with tenure in 2000, and Full Professor in 2001. He was Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Alberta from 1996-8 and a member of the Ontario Bar from 1994-2012. Professor Rotman has been invited to serve as Visiting Professor at the Washington and Lee University School of Law, Lexington, VA and University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Denver, CO, was named the inaugural Visiting Scholar at the Hennick Centre for Business and Law at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, a Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Study of Law and Society at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and was awarded a T.C. Beirne Distinguished Visiting Fellowship at the T.C. Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.

Professor Rotman’s book Fiduciary Law (2005) was shortlisted for the 2007 Walter Owen book prize as the best new book in Canadian law. He is also the author of Parallel Paths: Fiduciary Doctrine and the Crown-Native Relationship in Canada (1996), Contributing Editor (with Bruce Welling and Lionel Smith) of Canadian Corporate Law: Cases, Notes & Materials, 4th ed. (2010), and Contributing Editor-in-Chief of Constitutional Law: Cases, Commentary and Principles (2008) (with Bruce Elman and Gerald Gall, eds.). Professor Rotman is the author of numerous essays, chapters and law review articles addressing substantive issues in Aboriginal Law, Constitutional Law, Corporate Law and Governance, Equity, Fiduciary Law, Legal History, Remedies, Trusts, Unincorporated Associations, and Unjust Enrichment/Restitution. He is also formerly Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal Windsor Yearbook of Access to Justice. He has presented papers at conferences and law schools in Canada, the United States, England, France, Israel and New Zealand, and his work has been cited by domestic and international commissions and courts, including multiple citations by the Supreme Court of Canada.
