Forensic Psychiatric Evidence

Julio Arboleda-Florez, M.D., F.R.C.P.(C.), F.A.P.A., F.A.C.F.P., D.A.B.F.P., Ph.D., is a forensic psychiatric epidemiologist. Dr. Arboleda-Florez is Head of the department of Psychiatry at Queen's university, Chair of the Forensic Division of the department and an adjunct professor of psychology. He is Psychiatrist-in-chief of the hotel dieu hospital and Kingston General hospital. Before moving to Queen's, he was the director of the department of psychiatry at Calgary general hospital and professor and head of the forensic psychiatry division of the University of Calgary. Dr. Arboleda-Florez has a national reputation as an expert in forensic psychiatry and has appeared as an expert witness at hundreds of criminal trials across Canada. He is an international lecturer, a consultant for the World Health Organization and an honorary member of the World Psychiatric Association.

Christine Deynaka, B.S.W., LL.B., LL.M., holds a Masters degree in medical jurisprudence from the University of Edinburgh. Ms. Deynaka is a member of the British Columbia and Alberta Bars. She has practiced in the areas of civil litigation, intellectual property and health law. She is currently practicing in Rossland, B.C. Ms. Deynaka has a background in nursing and has been a sessional instructor in the Medicine and Law course at the University of Calgary in the Faculty of Law. She has been a member of the Foothills Hospital Ethics Committee in Calgary, Alberta, and a member of the Association of University Technology Managers. She has sat on the executive of the Canadian bar Association Health Law Committee and continues to be a member.
