Frederick M. Irvine, Ph.D., LL.B., restricts his practice to opinions, advise and litigation support to the legal profession and legal writing in the area of civil procedures. Among his other degrees, he holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He is an associate editor of Carswell's Practice Cases and a frequent contributor of annotations and case comments for that series. He is the revising editor of both British Columbia Practice and British Columbia Court Forms.

The Right Honourable Beverley M. McLachlin, P.C., C.C., CStJ, FCIArb, served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 2000 to 2017. She was the first woman to hold that position and the longest-serving Chief Justice in Canadian history. After teaching in the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta, Ms. McLachlin was appointed a judge in 1981. Throughout her prestigious career, she has served on many courts, including the County Court of Vancouver, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. In June 2018, Ms. McLachlin became a Companion of the Order of Canada, the highest honour within the Order. She is widely published and has received over 35 honorary degrees from universities in Canada and abroad, as well as numerous other honours and awards. Ms. McLachlin currently works as an arbitrator and mediator in Canada and internationally, and sits as a Justice of Singapore’s International Commercial Court and the Hong Kong Final Court of Appeal.
