The Prosecution and Defense of Public Corruption: The Law and Legal Strategies

Peter J. Henning (Retired) joined the Wayne State University Law School faculty in 1994, where he teaches criminal and corporate law, with a specialization in white collar crime. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. Before entering law teaching, he was a senior attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from 1987 to 1991, and a trial attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice from 1991 to 1994. Professor Henning is a co-author of casebooks on criminal law and white collar crime, two student treatises, and three volumes of the Federal Practice & Procedure treatise (with the late Professor Charles Alan Wright) on the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. He writes a regular column for The New York Times DealBook called "White Collar Watch" that looks at issues related to white collar prosecutions and regulatory enforcement.

Lee J. Radek, co-author of the original edition of The Prosecution and Defense of Public Corruption, was a cum laude graduate of the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. He joined the U.S. Department of Justice under the Attorney General's Honors Program in 1971. He was one of three attorneys selected in 1976 to form the Public Integrity Section of the Department's Criminal Division and became a Deputy Chief of that Section in 1978. In 1992, he was appointed to the position of director, Asset Forfeiture Office, and in 1994, he returned to the Public Integrity Section as its chief, where he served until 2001, when he became senior counsel in the Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section. Mr. Radek was a member of the FBI Criminal Undercover Operations Review Committee, and was the Department's representative to the Financial Action Task Force, the international anti-money laundering body.

Margaret C. Jasper is an attorney engaged in the general practice of law in South Salem, New York. Ms. Jasper holds a Juris Doctor degree from Pace University School of Law, White Plains, New York, is a member of the New York and Connecticut bars, and is certified to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Margaret Jasper has been appointed to the Attorney for Children panel for the Family Court of the State of New York, is a member of the American Bar Association, American Mensa, and a number of other professional organizations and associations. Margaret Jasper is a New York State licensed real estate broker operating as Jasper Real Estate, in South Salem, New York. Margaret Jasper is the Vice-President/Legal Counsel of Gold City Records, Inc. and Jasper Stone Music, Inc. (ASCAP), New York based record and music publishing companies.

In 2004, Margaret Jasper successfully argued a case before the New York Court of Appeals. As a result of this case, mothers of babies who are stillborn due to medical negligence now have the right to bring legal action and recover emotional distress damages. This successful appeal in Broadnax v. Gonzalez overturned a 26-year old New York case precedent, which prevented mothers of stillborn babies from suing and recovering damages from their negligent medical providers.
