Charles Chulack is a partner with the law firm of Horty, Springer & Mattern, PC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where his work is devoted exclusively to advising hospitals and physician leaders on a wide range of topics, including medical staff issues, medical staff bylaws and associated documents, compliance with federal and state law and regulations and accreditation standards, and employment matters. In addition, he represents hospitals in litigation on topics such as contractual disputes, physician hearing and appeal rights, and immunity under state and federal law.

Charlie is an editor of the firm's Health Law Express, a weekly e-newsletter on the latest health law developments. He also served as an editor for the fourth and fifth editions of the AHLA Peer Review Guidebook and has published numerous articles on health law. He is a frequent presenter for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, has conducted numerous audio conferences on topics ranging from the Medicare Conditions of Participation to antitrust in the health care arena, and is currently a faculty member of the Horty Springer seminar Credentialing for Excellence.

Charlie received his law degree from Duquesne University, where he graduated magna cum laude, was a member of the Duquesne Law Review and served as the Executive Comment Editor. While in law school, he was also the Executive Editor for Duquesne's Juris Magazine, a publication covering a diverse range of legal topics. He received his master's degree from New York University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

Joshua Hodges is an Associate General Counsel with Banner Health. Joshua handles a broad range of health care regulatory and accreditation matters, with an emphasis on issues relating to the medical staff, credentialing, and peer review.

Prior to serving in his current role, he worked as an attorney at the law firm of Horty, Springer, & Mattern. Joshua graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2015. Prior to law school, he obtained a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Lauren M. Massucci is a partner with the law firm of Horty, Springer & Mattern, PC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She works extensively with hospitals and their medical staffs on peer review investigations, hearings, the development of medical staff bylaws, and other related policies and projects. She has also worked on the license applications and development of managed care entities in various states. She is a member of the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations. She is currently a faculty member of the HortySpringer seminar Credentialing for Excellence.

Prior to joining Horty, Springer & Mattern, Lauren obtained her undergraduate degree from Allegheny College. She then obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Dan Mulholland is a senior partner in the law firm of Horty, Springer & Mattern, PC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is also an editor of the Health Law Express, the firm’s weekly e-newsletter on health law developments, and a speaker at HortySpringer seminars, podcasts, and audio conferences. Dan was named by National Law Journal as one of 40 health care attorneys who have made their mark and he is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. He has spoken and written extensively concerning a wide variety of health law topics. He regularly advises clients on hospital medical staff, corporate, tax, fraud and abuse, and compliance matters, prepares and negotiates all manner of contracts between hospitals, physicians, and managed care organizations. He also serves as trial and appellate counsel in False Claims Act, antitrust, tax exemption, contract, and peer review litigation.

Dan serves as a faculty member of the Estes Park Institute. He is the former Chair of the Credentialing and Peer Review Practice Group of AHLA. He frequently provides strategic counseling to hospital and health system boards, as well as transactional services regarding mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and affiliations. Prior to joining Horty, Springer & Mattern, Dan obtained his undergraduate degree from Duquesne University. He then obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

S. Allan Adelman is a former partner and current senior counsel with the Washington, D.C. office of the firm of Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, PC. He has been engaged exclusively in the practice of hospital and health care law, including the defense of medical malpractice cases, for almost 50 years. He has served as general counsel to several hospitals in Maryland and as special counsel for medical staff, credentialing, peer review, and hospital-physician issues for numerous hospitals on the East Coast.

Al is nationally recognized as a leader in health care law and is a frequent speaker on matters related to hospital-physician relationships, medical staff bylaws and governance, credentialing, peer review and related hearings, medical malpractice defense, risk management, and liability issues. He is a past chair of the AHLA Credentialing and Peer Review Practice Group, was a member of the AHLA Board of Directors from 1997 to 2007, and served as President of AHLA in 2005–2006. He has been listed as one of Maryland's "Superlawyers" every year since 2007 and also listed as one of the "Top attorneys in Maryland" by Baltimore magazine. Al graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1967 and received his J.D. in 1971 from Catholic University Law School, where he was an associate editor of the law review.

Christopher A. Adelman is a shareholder with Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, PC, in the Denver office. Chris advises clients on a broad range of health care issues, including physician relationships, medical staff bylaws and governance, credentialing, peer review and related hearings, corporate organization, corporate compliance, fraud and abuse issues, and hospital operations. Over the past 17 years, Chris has served as outside general counsel and compliance counsel to a number of health care entities across the county. In addition, Chris works with several corporations in real estate-related matters in and out of the health care industry, representing developers with mixed commercial and residential projects and assisting with projects from their inception to their completion.

Mayo B. Alao is an attorney with the Denver and Indianapolis offices of Hall, Render, Killian, Heath & Lyman, PC. He focuses his practice in the area of health law with an emphasis on hospital and health system operational matters, medical staff governance, credentialing and peer review issues, regulatory and compliance issues, corporate transactions, and hospital/physician alignment. Mayo regularly counsels a broad array of health care providers, including hospitals, health systems, physician practices, and other health care providers and organizations.

Mayo earned his J.D. with a Health Law Certificate and M.P.H. in Health Management and Policy from the Saint Louis University School of Law and the College for Public Health & Social Justice, where was a lead editor for the Saint Louis University Journal of Health Law & Policy. Before that, he earned his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University.

Maggie Martin is a director in the Oklahoma City office of Crowe & Dunlevy. She is a member of the Healthcare Practice Group and the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice Group. Maggie joined Crowe & Dunlevy in March of 2020 after serving for almost fifteen years as in-house counsel for INTEGRIS Health, Inc., Oklahoma's largest not-for- profit and Oklahoma-owned health care system. Her practice includes representation of health care institutions, hospitals, physicians, and hospice facilities in transactional, operational, and regulatory matters throughout Oklahoma. Maggie has extensive experience with a broad range of health law issues including: physician contracting and medical staff matters; the Anti-Kickback and Stark laws; HIPAA privacy and security requirements, including HIPAA breach requirements and reporting; clinical trials/research and institutional review boards; behavioral health issues; and EMTALA. She also represents health care industry clients in health care services contracting, regulatory compliance analysis, and mergers and acquisitions.

Maggie received her Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Prior to law school, she attended DePauw University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. Outside of her legal practice, Maggie has served as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health, teaching Healthcare Law and Ethics.

Hala Mouzaffar is an associate attorney with the law firm of Horty, Springer & Mattern, PC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She handles projects from each of the firm's practice areas, assisting clients on a broad range of corporate, regulatory, and transactional matters.

Hala earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and obtained the school's Certificate of Advanced Study in Health Law. While there, she served as a member of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review and as the publication's first Executive Editor for the Online Edition. She also participated in the University's Sikov Elder Law Clinic. Prior to attending law school, Hala obtained her B.S. in Neuroscience with a Certificate in the Conceptual Foundations of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh.
