Tennessee Real Property Law and Practice

Brooks R. Smith is a Partner with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP practicing in the Nashville office and most recently served as the chair of the firm’s real estate, finance and banking practice group, consisting of approximately 100 attorneys across seven states. He concentrates his practice in all areas of commercial transactional real estate, primarily for developers and real estate professionals, including borrower-side financings, purchase and sale agreements, leases, joint ventures, and development projects. Brooks graduated from Sewanee, the University of the South with a degree in History and earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law.

Brooks is active in the Nashville community, is a past chair of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Real Estate Section and currently serves on the boards of both the Nashville Rescue Mission and the Episcopal School of Nashville.

Brooks also has been an adjunct professor of law at Belmont Law School, where he has taught Real Estate Transactions. He is the municipal judge for the City of Forest Hills, Tennessee, where he adjudicates property-related and zoning issues. Brooks is an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church, where he serves at the Church of the Holy Trinity in inner-city Nashville.
