LexisNexis Practice Guide: Alabama Civil Procedure

Jerome A. Hoffman (1935 – 2020) was the author of Hoffman on Alabama Civil Procedure, the predecessor of this publication. He was the Elton B. Stephens Professor Emeritus of Law at the University of Alabama School of Law. For many years, Professor Hoffman served as a member of the Alabama Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on Civil Practice and Procedure. He authored numerous books and articles on evidence and civil procedure and held A.B. and J.D. degrees from the University of Nebraska.

Othni J. Lathram is a member of the Alabama and Texas bars. He has practiced in courts throughout the country with a focus on complex civil litigation. He is a member of the Alabama Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Civil Procedure and is an elected member of the American Law Institute. Othni is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama School of Law.

Anil Mujumdaris Assistant Professor of Law in Residence and Interim Director of Diversity and Inclusion at The University of Alabama School of Law and practices law in Birmingham, Alabama with the Dagney Johnson Law Group. At the law school he has taught courses on civil rights and poverty law and coaches the Black Law Students Association Moot Court Team. He is also a litigator and handles white-collar investigations as well as a variety of human rights matters including anti human trafficking and prison conditions litigation. He serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the ACLU nationally and is past President of the ACLU of Alabama. He has taught as an adjunct instructor at Stillman College and Miles Law School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Birmingham-Southern College, where he ran varsity cross-country and served as SGA President; a Master of Arts in American Studies from The University of Alabama; and a Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama School of Law. He is a member of the Alabama bar.
