Faisal Shah

Faisal Shah is a former partner in the Los Angeles office of the global law firm Pillsbury Madison & Sutro LLP (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP), where he advised clients on commercial and business restructuring matters and disputes, including obtaining security interests in intellectual property assets. Mr. Shah also served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Richardson Labs, Inc., where he handled a wide variety of corporate transactions and intellectual property licensing and litigation matters, including the eventual acquisition of the company by the publicly traded Rexall Sundown, Inc. While there, he established programs for the identification, management, and protection of the company's intellectual property portfolio, which included patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights, and counseled the company on Internet law matters and advertising and marketing claims under DSHEA and the FDA.

Following his time at Richardson Labs, Mr. Shah founded MarkMonitor Inc, an international intellectual property brand protection company. As the founding CEO, Mr. Shah managed the company’s intellectual property asset portfolio and supervised the company’s product, branding, advertising, and marketing strategies. In September 2012, Thomson Reuters acquired MarkMonitor. Mr. Shah also founded FTF Technologies Inc. (aka First to File), a patent document management company that provides comprehensive patent management solutions to companies and law firms worldwide. In February 2013, CPA Global acquired First to File. Mr. Shah recently founded Focus IP, Inc. dba Tracer, an online and mobile brand protection and enforcement company. Mr. Shah has worked extensively in the online brand protection and domain name industry and has assisted numerous companies in the protection and management of their valuable online assets.

Mr. Shah is a member of the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Internet Committee. Mr. Shah holds a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Colorado/Boulder Leeds School of Business and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Mr. Shah is a member of the state bar of California.
