In recent years, major changes have shaped the future of estate planning. In 2010, Congress passed The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the Michigan legislature passed and implemented Michigan’s Trust Code, and several technical amendments to the Michigan Trust Code were made in 2011, and amendments to Article V of the Estate and Protected Individuals Code relating to Protection of an Individual Under Disability and his or her property.
