His Honour Judge Peter Johnstone was appointed as the Chief Magistrate of NSW on 6 September 2021 and was previously President of the Children’s Court of NSW (2012-2021). Prior to becoming a judge, Peter was a senior partner in the law firm, Ashurst (then known as Blake Dawson Waldron), where he had worked for 35 years until he was appointed as a District Court Judge.
