Ford, Austin and Ramsay’s Principles of Corporations Law, 17th edition

Dr Robert (Bob) Austin is a barrister with University Chambers, Sydney, and is the Challis Lecturer in Corporate Law at the University of Sydney. He held academic positions in the fields of equity and company law at the University of Sydney from 1969 to 1990, becoming Professor (1984) and Head of the Department of Law (1985). From 1991 to 1998 he was a partner with Minter Ellison specialising in the M&A and corporate fields. He served as a judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales from 1998 to 2010 and was a part-time member of the Takeovers Panel from 2001 to 2006. He returned to private legal practice in 2011.

Ian Ramsay is Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Melbourne Law School, the University of Melbourne. He has published extensively on corporate law, corporate governance and financial regulation both internationally and in Australia. He has extensive experience as an expert consultant to government reviews and as a member of government advisory committees. Professor Ramsay is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia. In 2022 the Council of Australian Law Deans awarded Professor Ramsay the Australian Legal Research Awards Lifetime Achievement Medal. The Medal is awarded for “outstanding contributions to legal research” and “recognises individuals who have made a significant and enduring contribution to legal research”.
