LexisNexis Civil Rights & Strategy Series: Federal Health Care Laws addresses both general civil rights laws as they apply in health care settings, as well as specialty health care laws. It is organized topically, covering civil rights laws as they apply to: access to health care facilities, rights to receive medical care, discrimination in the delivery of medical care, and discrimination in payment for medical care. The text also covers special issues including exercise of conscience and health care privacy, both of which implicate health care delivery and are enforced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights.
LexisNexis Civil Rights & Strategy Series: Federal Health Care Laws contains:
• An overview of the civil rights statutes and regulations that commonly apply in health care contexts.
• A description of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights’ complaint, investigation, and resolution processes and sample documents.
• A discussion of issues related to the private enforcement of civil rights laws as they apply in health care settings.
• Analysis of how different statutes, regulations, and court cases apply to specific topics in health care and civil rights.
