AHLA has done a deep dive into the areas of privacy and data breach to create Health Information Privacy & Breach: A 50 State Survey. The variable laws of all 50 states plus the District of Columbia are examined.
Health care providers and others in the health care industry may have digital data that falls outside of federally protected health information or personal health records. They need to consult a resource such as this new title to ensure all obligations are met under both federal and state law with regard to the digital information they maintain for patients and consumers. Whether responding to a possible data breach or putting policies in place related to health record privacy and security, Health Information Privacy & Breach: A 50 State Survey will help to ensure that nothing falls between the cracks when dealing with this type of digital data.
Excerpt from the Foreword by Jonathan M. Joseph:
"This resource should prove invaluable for those in the health care industry and those advising it on operations that cross state lines, such as providers of telehealth and remote patient monitoring services."
Each chapter provides: 1) Breach Notification Laws, 2) Health Care Privacy Laws, 3) General Privacy Laws and 4) Helpful Links.
