Many updates have been included within the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (MPEP), Ninth Edition, Revision 07.2022, Published February 2023.

The USPTO February 2023 Publication of Revision 07.2022 updates sections of MPEP Chapters 100, 200, 400-1500, 1700, 1800, 2000, 2100, 2200, 2400, 2500, and 2700-2900. The updated sections have a revision indicator of [R-07.2022], meaning these sections have been updated to reflect USPTO patent practice and relevant case law as of July 31, 2022. In addition, the February 2023 publication of Revision 07.2022 updates Chapter FPC - Form Paragraphs Consolidated, the Foreword, the Introduction, the Subject Matter Index, and all appendices except Appendix I and Appendix P.

This LexisNexis product has been further updated to include the most current PTO forms available at the time of publication. In addition, Appendix L with United States Code Title 35 – Patents is now current through Public Law 117-327, approved December 27, 2022, with a gap of Public Law 117-263.

Appendix R, which offers Title 37 Code of Federal Regulations Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights is now current through Federal Register, Volume 88, Number 58, Monday, March 27, 2023 with the exception of the amendments appearing at 88 FR 18038 and 88 FR 18056.

Also note that while the Ninth Edition, Revision 07.2022, instructs the practitioner to access the Trademark Federal Statutes and Rules (TFSR) [Electronic Version] [PDF] for the rules in Part 2 of Title 37 of the CFR, this LexisNexis product has provided the rules in Part 2 of Title 37 of the CFR within this Appendix R. They too are current through March 27, 2023 with the exception of the amendments appearing at 88 FR 18038 and 88 FR 18056.
