This book is a comprehensive exposition of personality rights and the basis for and extent of the protection thereof in the South African law.

Aimed at students, practitioners and the judiciary, this book focuses on the recognition and protection of the different personality rights through the application of the actio iniuriarium and to a lesser extent the action for pain and suffering. Relevant criminal law and particularly the influence of the South African Bill of Rights are also considered and the protection of personal information under the POPI Act 4 of 2013 is discussed.
