Moore's Federal Practice, The Federal Courts Jurisdiction and Venue Clarification Act of 2011: Analysis and Case Law Developments

Georgene M. Vairo is the David P. Leonard Professor of Law Emerita at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Sweet Briar College (B.A. 1972) (Phi Beta Kappa), the University of Virginia (M. Ed. 1975) (With Distinction), and Fordham University School of Law (J.D. 1979) (cum laude). While a student at Fordham, Professor Vairo was an associate editor of the Law Review, and a member of the National Moot Court championship team. Professor Vairo practiced antitrust law at the New York City office of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom (1979-1981), and served as the first law clerk to the Honorable Joseph M. McLaughlin (1981-1982), then District Judge for the Eastern District of New York and later United States Court of Appeals Judge for the Second Circuit. She joined the faculty of Fordham University School of Law in 1982 and taught there for 13 years, serving as Associate Dean from 1987 until 1995, and was appointed to the Leonard F. Manning Chair in 1994. She served as a visiting professor at Loyola Law School in 1995-1996, and taught courses in Federal Jurisdiction, Civil Procedure, Class Actions, Complex Litigation, Mass Tort Litigation, International Dispute Resolution, and Federal Courts. From 1988 to 2000, Professor Vairo served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dalkon Shield Claimants' Trust, and as its Chairperson from August 1989 through the termination of the Trust. She has served on the editorial board of several litigation and dispute resolution journals. She is a member of the American Law Institute, and served as a member of the ALI Project on Complex Litigation. She has been invited to testify before the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules, and has lectured widely on various federal procedural topics including Rule 11, summary judgment, choice of forum considerations, abstention, class actions, resolution of mass torts and federal jurisdiction, to groups of judges, lawyers, and law professors.
