A graduate of Duke University School of Law and Wake Forest University, The Honorable William (Bill) Constangy engaged in employment and civil law practice in Charlotte, North Carolina for eighteen years. He then served as a North Carolina trial court judge, retiring in 2014 as a full-time Resident Superior Court Judge after almost 26 years on the bench. He is an active Arbitrator and Mediator, serving as an American Arbitration Association Panel Member on Employment, Large Complex Cases, Commercial and Judicial Panels, and certified as a North Carolina Superior Court Mediator. He previously served as an Associate Editor of the American Bar Association Labor & Employment Law Section Newsletter. He is a frequent lecturer and prolific writer and published author of a state legal treatise on employment law and numerous articles on employment law, various facets of noncompete law and other subjects in law reviews, journals and newspapers. He has served as a member of the North Carolina Statutes Commission. He is the recipient of The Order of the Long Leaf Pine award from the Governor of North Carolina for exemplary service to the state of North Carolina, the Leaders in the Law Award from Lawyers Weekly and Elon University School of Law and has been recognized in Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who Among Emerging Leaders in the United States, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and has been selected for the Who’s Who in America lifetime achievement award.
