Ruth Ballantyne, LLB, BA (Hons) (Otago) is a Professional Practice Fellow at the University of Otago Faculty of Law and has been researching family law alongside family law expert Professor Mark Henaghan for the past four years. She has contributed to many titles on family law including Mark Henaghan and Bill Atkin (eds) Family Law Policy in New Zealand (4th edition), Butterworths Family Law In New Zealand (16th edition) and the LexisNexis Family Law Service. She has also co-authored several academic pieces with Professor Mark Henaghan on family law.

Mark Henaghan BA LLB(Hons) LLD (Otago), FRSNZ is a professor of law at the University of Auckland, specialising in family law, a fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand for his excellence in family law research, and a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, where he is the chair of the Academic Liaison Committee.

Shonagh Burnhill MA (Distn.)(Otago), LLB (Canterbury) is a barrister specialising in family law, based at Te Pōhue Chambers in Christchurch | Ōtautahi. Shonagh advises and represents parties in a variety of family law matters and is a Lawyer to Assist.

Bill Atkin BA LLM (VUW) is a professor emeritus of law at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, was on the expert reference group for the Independent Panel examining the 2014 family justice reforms and the expert advisory group for the Law Commission’s project on relationship property.

Anna Chapman BA BA (Criminology), LLB (Wellington) is a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and has specialised in family law since 2012. Anna is a partner at JB Morrison, Wellington and was appointed to the Lawyer for Child list in 2018.
