Soraya M Ryan was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2018. Prior to her appointment she worked as a Crown Prosecutor, a lecturer at the University of Queensland and in-house counsel at Legal Aid Queensland. In 2010 she commenced private practice at the Bar, specialising in criminal law and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2013.
Anthony J Rafter SC was appointed a Judge of the District Court of Queensland in 2006. Prior to his appointment he was in private practice at the Bar and specialised in criminal appeal work. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003.
Peter Callaghan is a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland. Prior to his appointment he practised as a silk at the Queensland Bar between 2004 and 2020.
Danae Younger is a qualified Barrister and Mediator, and is currently appointed as an Adjudicator and Sessional Member at the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal. She has over 20 years’ experience practising as a solicitor and then a barrister specialising in criminal and administrative law in both private practice and government.
Tony Moynihan KC was appointed a Judge of the District Court of Queensland in 2015. Prior to his appointment he was in private practice before working as a Crown Prosecutor, Deputy Public Defender with Legal Aid and the Director of Public Prosecutions. He took silk in 2006.
John J Costanzo has been a magistrate in the Magistrates Court of Queensland since 2000 and has been an author of Carter’s Criminal Law for over 20 years.
Brian Devereaux SC was appointed a Judge of the District Court of Queensland in 2009 and Chief Justice of Judge the District Court in 2020. Prior to his appointment he was a Public Defender before moving onto private practice. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2005.
