A 2021 Edition for A Changed Industry
Three years ago, the first edition of Health Law Watch was intended to serve as a quick reference to the top ten issues in health law. Since then, this title has evolved to serve not only that purpose, but also to stimulate deep thinking on the most difficult issues facing the health care profession. With their close analysis, the authors of this 2021 Edition have raised the bar, preparing readers to understand the tensions that health care industry stakeholders will face in both the short and long terms.
As even a casual observer of health law knows, the COVID-19 public health emergency highlighted obstacles and accelerated change in health care delivery and regulation, as policymakers, providers, and patients struggled to adapt. What experienced health law professionals understood is that these changes were not the first attempts to address longstanding challenges facing our industry. In this 2021 Edition, health lawyers explain the bases for those challenges, take stock of where we are in the wake of the pandemic, and foreshadow what may come next.
