In 2013, New York undertook a comprehensive review of the state's tax structure and made recommendations to improve and simplify the current tax system. This article discusses the findings of that review and the resulting legislation to implement changes. This article originally appeared in the Warren's Heaton Legislative and Case Digest.
Linda B. Hirschson is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s New York office and chair of the New York trusts and estates practice. Ms. Hirschson focuses her practice on virtually all aspects of estate planning and administration and is a past member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel (ACTEC). Ms. Hirschson also is experienced in probate litigation and has authored numerous articles and lectured frequently on estate planning, income taxation and a range of other related topics.
